There are many mountainous places in Georgia, one of them is Svaneti, amazing place to visit in Georgia
I think traveling in the mountains is the best way for relax and create good mood.
One summer my friend and I decided to go somewhere, where we could to spend our time well and also to see historical and cultural heritage of our country.
Mestia in Svaneti
First day we went to Mestia, wich is the main regional center of upper Svaneti, it is situated 456 km from Tbilisi and is 1, 500 meters above sea level.
There we hired a Family guest house. We were surprised and amazed from stunningly beautiful views, there were glaciers, mountain rivers, svan towers on the hills.
Svaneti is the best place especially those who are fond of hiking, skiing in the winter, riding horses and exploring ancient cultures.
We got on ski lift and went to one of the closest peak to Mestia which named Hatsvali.
There was a cafe named Zuruldi on top of Hatsvali, where we could eat tasty national dishes of Svanetians such as “Kubdari”.
The inviroment was very amazing, we were watching glacier Ushba and were feeling ourself very happy.
We thought that everything look like as heaven on the earth, there were little yellow flowers in the green grass wich were shining such as stars on the sky.
This is a glacier Ushba. Ushba and Tetnuldi are two most famous mountains of this region, according to the legend they were once a beloved couple that was separated and turned into mountains to look at each other for all the times. If one of the lovers is sad, both peaks are covered with fog.
Ushguli in Svaneti
The second day we went to Ushguli, this beautiful village is one of the highest mountainous settlement in Europe.
There are lots of svan tower houses, which is the symbol of Svaneti, historically the towers were built because the necessity of protection against enemy and natural disasters.
This is “tower of love” in village Kala. We also visited historical and ethnographic museums, they offer collection of ancient Georgian jewelry, numismatic samples, icon-painting, Caucasian metal pots, svan furniture, musical instruments and others.
Laila Cafe Bar
In the evening we went to cafe “Laila Cafe Bar” which is located in central place of Mestia and was offering indoor and outdoor dining, live Georgian folk music, dance and delicious menu.
Our trip was during three day, it was not enough time to see another beautiful places and sightseeing of Svaneti.
But every nice trip has an end…..
